VMware KB: Unable to edit the settings of the template in vCenter Server 4.1

I had an issue recently where I could not edit the hardware of one of my VMware templates. I would convert the template to a virtual machine, and upon trying to edit its hardware I received this error message
“Call “PropertyCollector.RetrieveContents” for object “propertyCollector” on vCenter Server “” failed.”
Removing the VM from Inventory and re-adding it worked as per VMWare Knowledge base article 1025367. It would appear to have been an issue caused by our upgrade to ESXi 4.1.
